2018 Oh What A Year In CryptoCurrencies

Not many Bitcoin blogs have been around to have had this same title in 2015 - seems every year is a "oh what a year" - but... 2018 was a doozy. From highs near 20,000 back in the heady days of Dec. 2017 and still holding up high early in 2018 - to the crashing of ALL alternative coins and Bitcoin. Many folks who got in as Bitcoin was increasing daily back in late 2017 - lost nearly all their starting capital.... as Bitcoin went out of favor and the bubble...for now...burst. Will it test its 3000 dollar level again?

Also, the recent 51% attack on ETH classic - shows the increasing vulnerability of CryptoCurrencies - as it and many others have seen double spends and more. People not in the crypto space are reluctant to move into the blockchain as an investment vehicle and consequently nearly all trading volumes are way way way down. One ETF proposal after another was denied in 2018...but more are coming....and Bitcoin Futures entered the scene in 2018.... seemingly forcing the price down with more and more shorts.

Meanwhile in 2018 - CHINA was big big news.... cracking down on nearly all crypto...from exchanges to miners...other major markets such as India also showed no movement...while a few other countries saw the blockchain and crypto as the coming revolution. Speaking of which...in some countries with huge inflation if not revolution...Bitcoin made a presence of itself....as have Stable value coins in 2018 - and the first state sponsored coins. Ripple also passed ETH in marketcap but the battle is close...Ripple forms the all important bank connections and the IMF looks to crypto to provide possible funding to 3rd world countries and provide a means to determine who is creditworthy in nations without banking for the people.

So...it's all about change...and what's new about that.... nothing at all. So...adapt... be informed and be ready to act. The lower volumes and beaten down market are very responsive to real business news and the pump and dump have returned also to a degree. There is BTC to be made...even fiat. Keep the faith. I do intend to re-start this blog and post what I consider to be important crypto links and mix that up with sharing some of my trades in Crypto... looking forward to 2019.

Here's some recent pertinent links:
Why The Ethereum Classic Hack Is Not Good News For Crypto - call it a reorganized chain or hack...something bad is lurking for many smaller alts for sure.
Has The Bitcoin Price Become Price Bound?  - this analyst calls the price to be 3,000 to 5,000 for months.
Finally, Ripple wants a piece of the global payment system - no kidding....

100 MILLION HTML5 COIN GIVEN AS CAMPAIGN DONATION IN ATLANTA

At the Bluetrade Exchange chatbox one often finds exciting news about certain virtual coining efforts... one of those coins being the HTML5 coin. Below you can see they've cornered a Democrat running for President of the United States - for a photo op and PR session about Cryptocurrencies. The gentleman is Robby Wells... seen with Marlena (of HTML5) holding the 100 Million HTML5 `check' representing the coin political donation.
===============================================
FYI, 100 million HTML5 would be valued at about 75 LTC on most exchanges and each LTC is worth about 1.70 as of today - a hefty donation and great publicity for Crypto.
Those who are following the game closely, very closely, know that I may have made the very first Crypto donation, outside of Bitcoin, (which was involved at some level in the past) to a political campaign a few weeks ago in MazaCoin to Payu Harris - when he was organizing a run for the Mayor of Rapid City SD.
Also, in similar Presidential news, Rand Paul has in a backhanded way endorsed Crypto by suggesting that COMPANIES might be allowed to issue their own `currencies'.
===============================
======================================
So, Cryptsy is cranking up `contract mining' - and it's certainly possible many new sources of coins may be entering that market exchange IMO.... might get a bit harder to trade some coins if the price of a currency gets perceived as the cost of electricity.... or a contract that makes money.
====================================
============================================
Finally for today - what do you say we take a look at a few more of the `names' in Cryptocurrencies that might have appeal:
`think outside the banks'
they provide a WEEKLY update... rare for Cryptocurrencies
Here's my most recent trade in the coin at Cryptsy
2015-03-27 00:04:09 Sell 0.00001580 814.21974351 0.01286467
2015-03-18 12:18:38 Buy 0.00001417 7.00823351 0.00009931
2015-03-18 12:18:31 Buy 0.00001417 630.00000000 0.00892710

WorldCoin... real... and with potential IMO.

share your computer power?
The coin is also associated with a `Spells Of Genesis' Game which could increase it's profile dramatically. Can't seem to find an exchange with this coin yet....
Be ready for this one when you see it!

100 Days Later - The UpdateSo

As anyone who follows the cryptocurrency space of things... it has been very active for the development of bitcoin... not all for the good... over the last 100 days... including a `crash' with a spike down to 92 dollars for a few moments in January on Cryptsy... as if to show the potential shallowness of the full marketplace... and millions of dollars and bitcoins have been lost in scams via coins and exchanges... little to be returned and massive drops of coins onto the market from these ripoffs.

But, during the volatile 100 days... I became a trader, moved into new exchanges and out again (like C-Cex) and in general DOUBLED TO TRIPLED my trading stake thanks to investments in the NavajoCoin mainly. I've also had nice trades at times with Mazacoin, Gamerholic, and others too..... such as HTML5, Leaf, and Einsteinium.

I'm still using Bluetrade very occasionally and have about 0.128 btc there (from original .10).... but.. I made about 900 trades before slowing down... occasionally you can still get good info in the chatbox there too from developers.......My favorite exchange is Cryptsy where my original stake of .15 btc has grown to .51 btc (spiked much higher recently) -- at one time I traded 2 btc in 2 weeks... but have scaled back to about .6 btc in 2 weeks. Cryptsy is where I have my `dry' trading btc as I sold most of my Navajo position there. Mainly because Bittrex is where the thickest Navajo coin market is (much like Cryptsy has a deeper market like Mazacoin)... and it's easier to find coins to trade into on Cryptsy.

Anyway at Bittrex my initial start of 0.15 bitcoin is 0.41 bitcoin... I've sold NONE of my NavajoCoin stake there. Bittrex seems to have some good new coins too to trade....like Ribbit Rewards. Finally on Polonex... I've struggled mightly after buying into the peaks of Ripple and Stellar a few months ago but have recovered even there from a 0.10 start to 0.14btc.... Now playing the CounterParty Exchange coin.

So, as spring starts today... expect a more updated blog here... and thanks for hanging in there...
