Poloniex Holdings - February 2017

Current Holdings At Poloniex

Some of my current holdings and trades:
Poloniex Holdings
2/5/17
2:50 PM

Estimated value of holdings:
$1,471.41 USD
 /
1.45683154 BTC

litecoin  .39 btc
Pascal  .32 btc
Stellar .27 btc
Ripple .24 btc
NEM .21 btc

I've recently traded Pascal profitably by catching some lows and expecting the volume and support level to kick in for the new coin. I also held Stellar for a good gain a couple weeks ago. That said, compared to Dec... my btc is down, largely IMO to the significantly rising value and spike of bitcoin which has made the market hard to trade and to time....have been watching Factom for a good entry point and re-enter Expanse on this upswing.

2015 Oh What A Year In CryptoCurrencies

I will probably be changing up the `targeting' of this website soon if not later today to DEemphasize the `trade page' and to talk more if not much more about actual trading of cryptocurrencies... since I'm now a year into doing so.... and have learned much in just the last six months since the last post here.

First, the number of crypto exchanges that I currently really trade upon is down to ONE - Poloniex. It's unfortunate as for most of the year Cryptsy was probably my real favorite and Bittrex wasn't far behind... but as the year wore on and especially after Ethereum hit the market - the trends were very clear... the exchange to be on was Poloniex.

Indeed, as the year was ending... communication from the administration of some exchanges seemed to crawl to a halt which eventually lead to a run on the exchanges with folks willing to exchange value for simply getting coins out. (Cryptsy) - All that said, I don't know if anyone has been anything more than delayed in getting their value. However, now the fear of having all the eggs in one basket is present.

Overall I've done well to quite well IMO - more than doubling my trading BTC value over the year (but taking some of the `profit' and buying into other crypto things)... so I'v ended up the year having small amounts of BTC value (under .1 at each exchange) at Bittrex and Cryptsy and about (as of this AM) .52 BTC that I'm trading on Poloniex. I will try in 2016 to bring to you more of my trading strategy at Poloniex..... where the volume is high enough on many coins to be fully trade-able with some patience.

2016 Beginning Trade Positions

First... remember that this trading of crypto began as purely penny ante stuff... and to many it remains it. But these days at Poloniex I am maintaining an ETH balance (Ethereum) as I don't want to be caught short IF and WHEN the price potentially escalates ... being possibly the only coin with more developers NOT directly with the ETH team.... supposedly upwards of 100 applications and projects in infant stage...etc.
I also am of most recent been trading Game Credits coin... catching most of it's recent rise fortunately and increase in volume... it's the only active trade I have going other than BUY orders set after a compelling drop from today's levels on several other coins including Lumens and Ripple (ETH and FAC too). And while it's taken some period of time - it's obviously important to stress to newbies the direct inverse  relationship of nearly all coins to the fiat price of BTC - and the need to keep a portion of your BTC dry for particualar coin free fall drops - which happen on nearly all coins at some interval.
Patience.

100 Days Later - The UpdateSo

As anyone who follows the cryptocurrency space of things... it has been very active for the development of bitcoin... not all for the good... over the last 100 days... including a `crash' with a spike down to 92 dollars for a few moments in January on Cryptsy... as if to show the potential shallowness of the full marketplace... and millions of dollars and bitcoins have been lost in scams via coins and exchanges... little to be returned and massive drops of coins onto the market from these ripoffs.

But, during the volatile 100 days... I became a trader, moved into new exchanges and out again (like C-Cex) and in general DOUBLED TO TRIPLED my trading stake thanks to investments in the NavajoCoin mainly. I've also had nice trades at times with Mazacoin, Gamerholic, and others too..... such as HTML5, Leaf, and Einsteinium.

I'm still using Bluetrade very occasionally and have about 0.128 btc there (from original .10).... but.. I made about 900 trades before slowing down... occasionally you can still get good info in the chatbox there too from developers.......My favorite exchange is Cryptsy where my original stake of .15 btc has grown to .51 btc (spiked much higher recently) -- at one time I traded 2 btc in 2 weeks... but have scaled back to about .6 btc in 2 weeks. Cryptsy is where I have my `dry' trading btc as I sold most of my Navajo position there. Mainly because Bittrex is where the thickest Navajo coin market is (much like Cryptsy has a deeper market like Mazacoin)... and it's easier to find coins to trade into on Cryptsy.

Anyway at Bittrex my initial start of 0.15 bitcoin is 0.41 bitcoin... I've sold NONE of my NavajoCoin stake there. Bittrex seems to have some good new coins too to trade....like Ribbit Rewards. Finally on Polonex... I've struggled mightly after buying into the peaks of Ripple and Stellar a few months ago but have recovered even there from a 0.10 start to 0.14btc.... Now playing the CounterParty Exchange coin.

So, as spring starts today... expect a more updated blog here... and thanks for hanging in there...
